Friday 4th January, 2019-Road work on Sir George Walter Highway and Friars Hill Road will resume next Monday with a promise that the programme will be intensified.
The Road Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project is being executed through a grant from the United Kingdom Caribbean Infrastructure Partnership Fund (UKCIF). It has come in for much criticism from motorists in particular who are being inconvenienced and are claiming their vehicles are going through undue stress especially when on Friars Hill Road.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne in his New Year’s Day address to the nation while committing his government to building a network of roads and highways in the country, that serve both the social needs of every motorist, as well as, the commercial necessities, including tourism, thanked road users for their forbearance and assured that 2019 will bring accelerated work.
Project Coordinator, Dennis Cudjoe says with much of the work underground complete, the actual road works will begin.
