Tuesday 8th January, 2019-Prison Superintendent, Deputy Commissioner of Police Albert Wade is welcoming the news that government intends to construct a new prison.
Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin revealed last year he had initiated talks with a group that is prepared to build a new facility commencing the first quarter of 2019.
Superintendent Wade said the new prison will prove beneficial in several ways. He detailed it will provide for staff to work in specific areas for which they were trained.
Looking ahead, the Deputy Commissioner of Police says there may still be use for the current prison once the new one is constructed and becomes operational.
