Tuesday 12th February, 2019-The Antigua/Barbuda Public Service Association is confident that the Works Ministry through its Minister Lennox Weston will bring much needed relief to staff and patients at the Clare Vue Psychiatric Hospital.
Employees there have lamented the poor working conditions they are made to endure int he execution of their duties, which dates back several years. But relief is in sight with the Ministry of Works expected to undertake much needed repairs at the institution shortly.
ABPSA General Secretary Sandra Williams was among a team that included Ministry of Works officials who toured the psychiatric hospital to conduct an assessment this morning of the scope of work to be undertaken there.
Williams explained that the situation at the Mental Home is dire and said despite donations they have received to assist in alleviating the problems plaguing them, nothing much has changed.
The ABPSA General Secretary is pleased the Works Minister is moving swiftly to bring the employees and patients relief. She is proposing that a team be established to deal with maintenance, which will avoid situations like those the government is currently faced with.
