Tuesday 9th April, 2019-All cases in District B of the court’s jurisdiction will be heard from Monday 15th April, 2019 at the new temporary location in Herberts.
The keys to the facility, which the All Saints Magistrate’s Court will occupy in a section of the building that houses the headquarters of the Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board, was handed over this morning in a brief ceremony.
Attorney General and Justice Minister the Hon. Steadroy Benjamin, speaking at the ceremony said the court’s move though temporary is part of his government’s policy to ensure that the necessary mechanisms are in place so that magistrates will be able to dispense justice in a comfortable manner.
The Ministry of Works has come in for much commendation for the work they are undertaking in bringing relieve to employees of the court and also to those that seek the courts’ services.
Once repairs are completed on the building that permanently houses the All Saints Magistrate’s Court, hearing of District B matters will once again be heard there.
The Traffic Court will also be housed in the Transport Board building at Herberts.
A similar ceremony for the District A Court will be held shortly, when it begins occupying a space in the sporting complex at Knuckle Block in Grays Farm.
