Monday 3rd June, 2019-Antigua Public Utilities Authority is reporting that Potworks Dam has received almost 10 feet of water as a result of rainfall at the weekend.
The interaction of two features, a low-level trough combined with an upper-level trough and an abundance of moisture in the atmosphere was responsible for the rainfall that caused flash flooding in some areas.
APUA in a Facebook post revealed the 10 feet of water is 33.33 % of Potworks Dam’s total capacity.
It will be used to increase distribution around the island. However, the water catchment facility will be required to settle before pumping begins.
APUA says it Water Business Unit is currently carrying out an assessment of other water catchments across the island.
