Monday 1st July, 2019-Prime Minister Gaston Browne has pledged several scholarships to Dominica for its citizens to study at the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus.

The offer was made on the Browne and Browne show at the weekend to a group of Dominicans who were promoting a public meeting for the Dominica Labour Party held in Antigua yesterday.

Among those that were promoting the work of the Roosevelt Skerrit administration, was Floyd Capitolin, technical officer within the Office of the Prime Minister in Roseau.

Professor Sir Hilary Beckles on behalf of Chancellor, Mr. Robert Bermudez, and the Council of The University of the West Indies (UWI) announced last week the formal approval of the establishment of a campus of The University of the West Indies in Antigua and Barbuda, within the wider context of the country’s membership of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s vision for the university campus is that it will serve Antiguans and Barbudans and the sub-region, offering affordable tuition to a people he believes have been deprived for decades.

On Saturday, the prime minister responded to Floyd Capitolin.
