Thursday 10th January, 2019-The Acting Chief Health Inspector says the Central Board of Health is stepping up its vector control programme to reduce mosquito infestation.
Sharon Martin says inspectors are tasked with visiting households to ascertain whether property owners are taking steps to reduce the spread of the Aedes Aegypti Mosquito.
Martin is advising householders to properly cover water containers and rid yards of discarded materials that can hold water and make for breeding sites for mosquitoes. She warns that the Aedes Aegypti Mosquito resides inside and outside of homes.
Meantime, there is an appeal being made for homeowners to be receptive to CBH inspectors. There are reports that some of the men and women’s lives are in danger when they show up in certain places, as Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Oreta Zachariah noted.
