Friday 11th January, 2019-Approximately 20 Cuban engineers and technicians will begin arriving in Antigua next week to assist the government in improving its infrastructural programme.
The first group of 15 Cubans will arrive on Tuesday and the others expected shortly after. They will be attached to the Ministry of Works for the next year and will offer their expertise in several areas according to Permanent Secretary Clarence Pilgrim.
While here, the Cubans are expected to share their knowledge and expertise with those employed by the Ministry of Works. The department also intends to revive its apprenticeship programme.
Cuba’s newly appointed Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, Maria Fiffe Cabreja says the arrival of the Cubans is as a result of the sound relations that exist between the two countries.
